The International Rescue Committee is hosting its Welcome Home fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. June 1 at the pavilion at City Park, 2001 Steele St., in Denver.

IRC is a not-for-profit that is internationally headquartered in New York. Its Denver office is located in Denver’s Virginia Village neighborhood.

IRC’s mission is “to help people whose lives and livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and regain control of their future,” states IRC’s website.

The Welcome Home event will benefit the organization’s Denver Psychosocial Support Services and its many programs, including the We Can Do It! program which will be highlighted at the event.

We Can Do It! focuses on “female clients who vocalized social isolation and lack of growth opportunities in their new communities in Colorado,” states a news release.

The Welcome Home event includes a buffet dinner catered by R Bazaar, which is the nonprofit arm of Ruby’s Market, a multi-cultural artesian market on South Pearl Street in Denver. Live entertainment will be provided by Oromo Dance Colorado.

Tickets cost $100 per person and registration closes May 30.

Attendees should expect to wear a mask at the event, though IRC will be assessing this closer to June 1.
