WHAT THEY DO:

Golden Paws Animal Hospital provides veterinary care for dogs and cats in Golden and beyond, offering preventative care and, when necessary, on-site surgical procedures. The business’s team of 30 employees aims to meet pet owners where they’re at, both figuratively and literally, according to owner and veterinarian Dr. Sam Lane. These “wonderful, compassionate people” seek to remove barriers to care by working with clients to help them understand price and prioritize what’s important to them regarding their pets.

Lane says he loves the creativity that owning his own business affords him. Holding charity events, supporting schools, and partnering with other local businesses allows the hospital to live out its core values and be part of the Golden community that it calls home. “It’s the fuel that keeps us going,” he said

HISTORY:

Golden Paws Animal Hospital opened its 4,500-square-foot facility off state Highway 93 in 2016. Three years later, Lane partnered with a pet groomer and launched Grooming @ Golden Paws about a mile south of the hospital. And while the veterinarian practice has always made some house calls, Golden Paws debuted a mobile exam room last fall — allowing the business to physically go to  Evergreen, Coal Creek Canyon, or wherever it’s needed by customers and their animals.
