Highlands Ranch Historical Society delays 'Tree of Hope' event due to COVID surge

The Highlands Ranch Historical Society has canceled its planned Jan. 17 presentation by "Tree of Hope" author Cara Wilson-Granat, who was to speak on lessons gleaned from her 20-year correspondence with Anne Frank's father Otto Frank, in order to safeguard the health of members and guests during the current COVID surge.

A notice from the historical society says the author event will be rescheduled, possibly in April.

A Zoom presentation will be held instead on Jan. 17, starting at 7 p.m., featuring South Metro Fire Rescue Risk Reduction Specialist Einar Jensen. Jensen's presentation, "Disasters in History: The October 1871 Fires with Connections to the Marshall Fire," will examine disastrous Midwestern fires of 1871, such as the Chicago and Peshtigo fires, and provide connections to the devastating Marshall Fire that recently hit Boulder County.
