LAKEWOOD -- Holy Family's Grayson Arnold wrapped up his prep high-school career in fine fashion.

The Baylor University-bound senior took second in both the 200-meter dash and the 100-meter dash May 22 at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood. His time was 10.92 seconds.

"I had a good start. I was out ahead," Arnold said. "Some kids started coming on the last few meters, but I'll take my second placve. It was pretty fun. I enjoyed the competition. I definitely wouldn't have run this fast without some good competitors."

Arnold had the top time in the state for the 100-meters. He also clocked the second-fastest time in the state in the 200-meters. He finished second in that race, posting a time of 21.44.

"At the beginning of the season, I really wasn't running that fast," Arnold said. "Honestly, I had to work hard. I dropped by times by a half a second. That's pretty good. I changed my mindset. It changed to 'I have a chance to do something really big this season.' It was definitely the mindset."

Arnold wasn't the only Tiger to take home some hardware. Skylar Hawk won two state titles, including the 200-meters where she fell across the finish line.

Her other title was in the 100-meter hurdles.

She took ninth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.44 seconds.

The boys 4-by-100-meter relay team of Griffin Eastman, Pierce Kunz, Dominic Neely and Arnold won the title with a time of 42.2 seconds. The 4-by-200-meter relay team of Conor Byrne, Kunz, Neely and Arnold won the state title as well.

Arnold wants to walk on the Baylor University track team next season.

"I'd rather not sacrifice my education just to go run track at a smaller school," Arnold said. "Originally, I got into Baylor, so I'm going to go there anyway and try and get on the track team."

He wants to study business entrepeneurship.
