Jefferson Jr/Sr High School is getting new track and field facilities as well as building improvements, while Alameda International Jr/Sr High is getting a thorough revamp, albeit at a higher-than-expected price tag. The latest price estimate for the Alameda renovation/addition is $19.4 million on the Jeffco Schools’ Flipbook. And according to Tim Reed, Jeffco’s Executive Director, Facilities and Construction, the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction of the partial replacement of Alameda International Jr./Sr. HS approved by the Board of Education is $25,941,546.

Alameda Principal Susie Van Scoyk spoke about renovations to her school during a ceremony to celebrate the installation of the final beam in the school’s new addition.

“We’re celebrating hope for the future,” she said. “It’s a huge addition and renovation. It’ll be an entirely new wing of classrooms — three-stories high, new administration and offices, a new library, a new performing arts area, a new business classroom and a new fabrication room.”

As she watched the final beam being raised into place, she became emotional.

“This is a wonderful community of parents and students and staff,” she said. “And so, to be able to celebrate something like this, for me, as a principal, is absolutely fabulous.”
