Leaf peeping close to home

For a few weeks each fall, usually after Colorado's famous color display has faded in the foothills and mountains, it's metro Denver's turn to put on a show.

On Oct. 23-24, the landscaped green belts meandering through business parks and neighborhoods near Yosemite Street in Centennial offered rich color. A water feature in the area was a draw for ducks, most of whom paid little notice when people strolled nearby.

The peak color season in the suburbs is usually brief. Before long, the show fades with the season's first snows.
