WHAT THEY DO:

With a mission to provide community service that reflects the diversity of the community, the Parker Police Department is a full-time service. The administrative division oversees background investigations, crime prevention, evidence management, and internal affairs, and trains volunteers. The investigations division is made up of detectives and includes a crime analyst. The operations division are those most visible to the community, the patrol officers.

In 2015, the department began equipping all officers with body-worn cameras to increase accountability. Following a community policing approach, the department works with the community and offers classes such as the Citizen’s Police Academy and the Teen Police Academy.

The website offers residents a list of community resources and victims and public services. Citizens file a traffic complaint, report a crime, and request a report using the department’s website. In addition, citizens can sign up to be notified of upcoming classes and events, department involvement, and general news about the department and about public safety.

The Parker Police Department also provides emergency preparedness information and classes.

HISTORY:

The Parker Police Department managed the streets in 1983 on a part-time basis. The department was originally headquartered in

the old Parker Community Center on Mainstreet. In 1988, the headquarters moved to what is currently Town Hall on Mainstreet, then to Parker Square Drive in 1994, and to where it is now since 2010. The department hit a major milestone in 2013 when it was state and nationally accredited.
