The Parker Police Department needs help to identify the suspect from the fatal hit-and-run that occurred the evening of Aug. 21.

The department are sharing photos of the suspect leaving the Parker Walmart following the shoplifting call to police. The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts.

The police asks the public with information about the suspect's identity or the incident to call Detective Wilson at 303.805.6561.

Parker police are looking for the driver of a 2005 white Chevy Monte Carlo with Colorado plates AWRS39 after a pedestrian was struck and killed.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, an officer with the Parker Police Department attempted to pull over the Monte Carlo on Parker Road near Plaza Drive after Walmart reported the vehicle’s driver was involved in a shoplifting incident.

According to a press release from the police department, when the driver did not stop for the officer, the officer turned off their lights and sirens and made a U-turn at the next intersection, per department policy.

Shortly after the attempt to stop the vehicle, Parker dispatch received calls of a hit-and-run at Parker and Lincoln.

It was determined the same suspect related to the shoplifting incident had struck the victim, who was crossing Parker Road in a designated walkway.

Witnesses told police the Monte Carlo has a cracked windshield, front-end damage and the airbag on the driver’s side may have been deployed.

The driver was described by witnesses as a Black male with an oversized black T-shirt and gray shorts. They also said a Black female was in the passenger seat.

Officers gave the victim CPR before he was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Witnesses lost sight of the car heading north at Parker Road and Orchard Road.

The police department is sharing video of the officer attempting to pull the white Monte Carlo over, which can be seen here

The video can also be seen on the departments Twitter and Facebook

The Parker Police Department is urging residents to call 303-841-9800 with any information about the incident, driver or vehicle.
