Arapahoe County conducted a recount for the Centennial City Council District 4 race on Nov. 28 after candidate Charlette Fleming requested it as of the prior week. The recount certifies Marlo Alston as the winner with 1,649 votes.
The recount didn't change much in relitigating what was the tightest contest in Centennial's Nov. 7 elections by a long shot. Fleming's count dropped by a single vote to 1,634, while Alston's and John Miquel's stayed constant, compared with the original results certified Nov. 21.
Alston stayed ahead with 34.3 percent of the vote, with Fleming close behind at 34 percent and Miquel coming in at 31.8 percent. The race saw 4,812 total votes cast.
New city councilmembers will be sworn in Jan. 8.
