On the first night of September, 2023, onlookers packed the LPS stadium with the colors of their teams and feuding chants, while the Arapahoe Warriors extended their winning streak by defeating the Heritage Eagles 28-7 in the decades-old rivalry game called the Battle for the Milk Jug.

The Eagles fall to 0-2 for the season. The Warriors are now 2-0. This was the fourth year in a row that the Warriors have claimed the coveted Milk Jug.

The Warriors started off strong, scoring a touchdown on their second play of the game with a deep pass from Quarterback #11 Kurt Rossner to Warrior WR #8 Charlie Eckhardt.

In the second quarter, Warrior #14 Levi Brayton blocked a field goal attempt after a long drive down the field for the Eagles. Still, after a fumbled recovery, the Eagles found themselves scoreless at the end of the first half.

Stepping on to the field for the second half's first drive, the Eagles utilized a trick in their playbook by opting for the Special Team's fake punt that gained them a first down and excellent field advantage, setting the Warrior defense on edge as they were now deep in Warrior territory.

Milking their sneaky play for every inch on the field, the Eagles scored their first and only touchdown on the very next play with a long throw to Eagles #4 Tanner Terch.

The Warriors continued to seal and pasteurize their victory with the remaining time on the clock through tactful interceptions by #9 Cade Nierling, #8 Charlie Eckhardt, and a couple more touchdowns by #33 Anthony Clouatre and #12 Trajan Frasier.

Warriors' Head Coach Tyler Brayton celebrated his team's victory with these words: "Way to come out and play physical. Way to come out and show em' who we are." 

Arapahoe and Heritage have been competing against each other since 1972; however, the Milk Jug Trophy, which intensifies the rivalry, was not created until 1996. The more formal name of the award is the Brookridge Trophy, which originated from the Brookridge Dairy Farm and acknowledges all that the farm did for the growth of Littleton from 1925 to 1948.

Hearts go out to Eagles captain #7 Rex Guthrie, who was injured late in the 4th quarter and needed to be taken away by ambulance. The crowd showed their support by chanting "WE LOVE YOU, REX" as the player was carted off the field by the medical staff.
