Wind ensembles join forces in free concert

The Colorado Wind Ensemble performs a free concert with the Eaglecrest High School Wind Ensemble at the high school, 5100 S. Picadilly St., Centennial, at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. David Kish directs music by Saint-Saens, Reed, Daughtry, Piazzola, local composer Alan Stein and more. Masks to be worn at all times.

Art market

Arapahoe Community College students will gain scholarship help when readers buy a ticket ($12) to the online Affordable Arts Festival Holiday Market website. All prices are $100 or less, as with the summer market. See AffordableArtsFestival.com.

Call for artists

The 56th annual “Eye of the Camera” call for artists is open on Cafe, callforentry.org. Deadline is midnight, Nov. 16. Juror is Rupert Jenkins. Theme: “Space to Wonder.” Exhibit dates: Jan. 21 to March 12, 2022 at the Littleton Museum.

K Contemporary Gallery

“Zonz Rosa” by Angel Ricardo Ricardo Rios and “I Know Not Where” by Shawn Huckins will be featured at K Contemporary Gallery, 1412 Wazee St., Denver from Nov. 20 to Jan. 8.

Cuban-born Rios will hang his first show at K Contemporary, including more than a dozen large-scale paintings with bilingual titles, dealing with the “red zone” at the center of Mexican colonies with bars, sex, options.

Huckins' show, “The Birds Will Sing,” takes its title from a Cajun folk song and includes 10 paintings that are recreations of 18th- and 19th-century landscapes, overlaid with intentionally dark statements.

'Cabaret de Profundis' at Buntport

Hannah Duggan and Nathan Hall will perform a musical production, “Cabaret de Profundis” or “How to Sing While Ugly Crying,” through Nov. 13 at Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan St., Denver. Lone Tree Arts Center

The Lone Tree Arts Center at 10075 Commons St. presents “Blockbuster Broadway” on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. Featuring Davina and the Vagabonds and the Hot Club of Cowtown, a jazz trio. “The Finest Hour” at 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 is a celebration of music of the end of World War II, when Western swing, blues and pop-energized dance halls and radio waves prevailed.
